Somnox is a Dutch company that develops sleep and relaxation products, including their well-known breathing pillow. For one of my final exam projects, I had to develop a concept for a company of my choice, and I chose Somnox. I wanted to explore how their product could be used in a different setting, outside of the home. The result is a place at a festival where people can take a break from the busy environment and reconnect with themselves.

The concept is a quiet space where people who feel overwhelmed, tired or panicked can take a moment to calm down. The space is a large, soundproof version of the Somnox pillow, creating a safe and enclosed environment with calm music that visitors can turn on themselves. Inside, they can also use a Somnox pillow as a tool to help them relax and slow down. To communicate the concept, I created a small-scale model using a 3D printer and also developed a digital version of the space. This project allowed me to explore how an existing product can be translated into a new experience and environment.
